Folklore with its roots intact
These horror retellings draw on traditional tales and literature across the ages, from Japan’s Kojiki (712 CE) and medieval Chinese and Persian sources to Japanese ghost tales recorded in 1894 and 1904.
Each includes source notes explaining its roots and fictional additions. Tap Artwork to open the matching illustration in landscape, then return to your place in the story.
For mature readers: disturbing supernatural themes, death and graphic fictional violence, including blood and gore.
